April is bowel cancer awareness month and this free event will be helpful to anyone who wants to find out more about bowel cancer and its treatment. You’ll learn more about our work to improve outcomes for bowel cancer patients, how we are run and our future plans. Whether you’re new to the charity or a longstanding supporter, this informal and informative evening will give you a glimpse behind the scenes at GUTS.
The evening will include video, talks, displays, and some interactive elements. See – and even get to use – some of the amazing facilities and equipment based at the Royal Surrey and Mattu, which usually hosts courses in laparoscopic surgery, colonoscopy and other minimal access surgical techniques. Chat one-to-one with the researchers involved in some of the projects we are supporting to gain a first-hand understanding of how a medical project gets off the ground and is monitored throughout.
Our ‘newest’ trustee, Dr Anisha Patel, will be talking about her own experience of bowel cancer and how it has formed her understanding of the sort of help patients need at different stages of their treatment and recovery.
It’s a free event but numbers are limited so please book in advance.
