Volunteer for GUTS

Whether it’s half an hour once a year or a day a week, we value every second  given to us through volunteering. If you would like to chip in some of your spare time, please get in touch!

Street and supermarket collections

Street and supermarket collections help raise funds for GUTS but they also help to spread the word about the charity and about bowel cancer too. If you can spare an hour or two and live within reasonable distance of Guildford, Haslemere, Cranleigh or Godalming please do get in touch or keep an eye on our ‘events’ pages where we publish details of forthcoming collections.

Bake us a cake!

Every year we run the teashop for the Albury Park NGS open garden (usually towards the end of March) and the delicious homemade cakes we serve are all donated by volunteer bakers. If you enjoy baking and would like to make a contribution we would love to hear from you.

Be a GUTS ambassador

Help us raise awareness about the charity, bowel cancer prevention and early diagnosis by becoming a GUTS Ambassador.

If you are a confident public speaker, that could mean giving talks to groups, clubs and societies; maybe you are social media savvy and can help us to help us reach younger audiences online; or perhaps you’d like to attend local events on our behalf and help spread the word face to face.

Maybe you have your own ideas – please do get in touch, we would love to hear them. We can supply you all the information and back-up you need in the form of presentations, leaflets, posters or social media templates.

Be a race marshal

Every spring our annual race, Bolt Round the Holt, takes place at Alice Holt Forest near Farnham, and we are always on the look out for volunteers to help marshal the event.

Marshals help with a range of activities such as car park direction, manning water stations, helping with registration and directing runners. Some of the roles will involve walking around the course so if you have any mobility problems let us know so that we can allocate something in an area that’s reasonably flat and easy to reach. It’s an early start – volunteers arrive from around 7am but most people will be finished by early afternoon. The event takes place on a Sunday at the end of September.

Help sell our bric-a-brac

We hold table top sales of bric-a-brac in the Royal Surrey and at local fairs and fetes. If you’d like to give us a hand, we’d love to here from you. Likewise if you can recommend a local fete for this purpose, please do.

Help out at our events

An extra pair of hands at any of our events is always appreciated. That tends to be when we are setting up or breaking down so that means you get to enjoy the event without any stress. Win, win!
